KUALA LUMPUR - Nedim Nazri, the rather wayward
youngest son of Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz, bought the luxury RM7.2
million bungalow and super-car for his mother, and the money for the
purchases did not come from Nedim alone, said Nediam's actress
girlfriend Norah Danish.
"From what I know, he bought the house and a luxury car for his mother and the money is not Nedim's alone. It is not for me and I pity him because what he did has been associated with me , " Malay daily Sinar Harian reported Norah as saying.
Despite her explanation, not all are satisfied and demand to know how Nedim, who was recently recruited by his father to work as his Special Officer, could afford to make such luxurious buys.
"For the sake of transparency and good ethics, we hope senior minister Nazri will come clean on where Nedim got so much money to make the purchases," MP for Batu Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.
"Given Nedim's spotted track record, Nazri cannot expect Norah to make a bare denial and that's the end of the story. That's too unfair to the Malaysian public who have a right to know how and why their Ministers have so much money they can afford to buy costly bungalows as if these are like peanuts."
My Boo and My Love
Norah,
a beautiful actress with some Burmese ancestry, hopes that with her
explanation the speculation about the bungalow and super-car would stop.
"I don't deny I am close to Nedim and many people say I am friends with him because of his property and because he is the son of a Minister," said Norah,
"But if people were to think again, why would I want to associate with the son of a rich Minister because past experience has taught me a lot."
Nedim and Norah have been a 'hot' item for a while now and are frequently highlighted in the Malay media.
According to Norah, they share an Instagram account and upload pictures of themselves together almost on a daily basis. Nedim too publicly calls her 'My Boo ' and ' My Love '.
Family-oriented
Nora
was once married to Rizal Ashram Ramli, the son of another famous
political figure – former Perak Mentri Besar and former Dewan Rakyat
Speaker Ramli Ngah Talib. They had a son and were divorced six years
ago.
Nedim too had a failed marriage. According to Nora, she knows about Nedim's notorious past but insists that he is not the playboy portrayed by the media.
"The important thing is we are comfortable with each other. Our families are also comfortable with us. He's actually very family-oriented and treats me and my son well," she said.
"I do not want to talk about it anymore until we are already married. But that does not mean I will get married in the near future. If he (Nadim) wants to admit it (our relationship), that's up to him. It is his right. But for me, only when I am married then I will make an announcement," she said.
Murder-tainted past
Some
years ago, Nedim and his friends were accused of involvement in the
death of a young student Darren Kang in a restaurant in Sri Hartamas.
Darren had allegedly admonished Nedim and his friends for teasing his girlfriend and this had led to a fight where the restaurant workers had beaten Darren to death.
More recently, Nedim was in the news for having allegedly ordered bis bodyguard to beat up a security personnel at a plush condominium he was visiting.
Late last year, Opposition MP for Pandan Rafizi Ramli questioned why Nedim was using a black Hummer car worth RM459,000 that belonged to timber tycoon Michael Chia.
“If this is not bribery I don’t know what it is. At the very least, ethically there is a question of conflict of interest where he (Nazri) should take moral and political responsibility for it,” Rafizi had said.
